The Veguita Dairy is located in Socorro County and Valencia County in New Mexico.  It is noted that the Veguita Dairy is comprised of two operating dairy facilities. The North Dairy and the South Dairy. The improvements include a Double 12 Herringbone milking parlor and a Double 8 Herringbone milking parlor. Sheds, Shop, Commodity barn, 2 hay and equipment barns, two dwellings (one used for office), storage buildings, scales, generators, manure separator, lagoon system for wastewater management two dairy wells and monitoring wells.

The acres belonging to the Veguita Dairy consists of a total of 303 acres, more or less.  

 

ENVIRONMENTAL                                                                                                                                                                

The New Mexico Environment Permits for the dairies are DP-190 and DP-772. DP-190 allows discharge of 8,000 gallons of waste water per day and DP-772 allows discharge of 7,500 gallons of waste water per day for a total of 15, 500 gallons per day. Wastewater from the dairies is discharged through a solids separator into three synthetically-lined lagoons for disposal by evaporation.   Advanced Environmental Solutions of Belen, New Mexico are the current consultants on the environment permit.

IMPROVEMENTS

NORTH DAIRY FACILITY

The Double 12 Herringbone Milking Parlor with covered pens. This parlor is concrete block and steel construction and is 4,067 total square feet. The roof is galvanized frame and purlins with painted sheets. The square footage includes the parlor, an office, an equipment room, the covered area at the front of the structure, and the covered holding pen located at the back of the structure. The milking parlor and the front portion of the building are insulated. A pre-wash holding pen is attached to the structure. All waste water is removed by gravity flow to the east side of the barn.

 

PENS

DAIRY

The facility has open lot pens, with commercial grade pipe corrals with some pipe and cable fencing and feed lanes to accommodate 1,840 head. Some of the feed lanes (approximately 2,200 linear feet) do not include locking stanchions. The facilities have one area with 6 pie shaped milk cow pens, 7 rectangular shaped milk/dry cow pens and 2 irregular shaped milk cow pens. All posts are set in concrete. Feed lanes are concrete with attached cow stand lanes. A portion of the feed lanes are improved with 5 in 10 self-locking stanchions and other areas of the feed lane are open pipe. All pens have automatic drinking facilities in metal troughs. Most pens are improved with shades. Dirt inside the pens is sloped to facilitate wastewater run-off.

HEIFER

Commercial grade pipe corrals with some pipe and cable fencing and a total of 330 mature cos equivalent lock-ups. The facility has seven rectangular shaped heifer pens and two small rectangular shaped heifer/calf pens. 

MATERINTY/HOSPITAL NORTH DAIRY

Steel frame and steel roof structure totaling 3,790 square feet. The sides are open and the floor is dirt.  The two areas are attached and contain shipping pens, cattle working equipment and a chute.

MATERINTY/HOSPITAL SOUTH DAIRY

Steel farm and steel roof structure totaling 4,800 square feet. The sides are open and the floor is dirt. The structure is attached to the shipping pens and loading chute.

SHADES

There is a total of 16 pen shades with a total square footage of 67, 480. The shades are constructed of pre-engineered steel for the frame, metal roof cover, dirt floor and open sides.

 

BARNS

The Hay Barn/Equipment Shed is a steel frame structure with open sides and dirt floor. It is 6,000 square feet and is used to store hay and equipment.

The Equipment Barn is 3,750 square feet and is constructed of metal framing and has a metal roof. The sides are open and floor is dirt.

The Shop/Equipment/Commodity Barn is constructed of steel framing and steel roof cover. It has open sides except for the enclosed 1,000 square foot shop area. Total square footage of this structure is 10,600. There are 5 bays that are usable for commodities.  

The Truck Shop is almost new. It measures 60’x150’ or 9,000 square feet. It was built to accommodate Semi Trucks. It has a ¾ bath, concrete floor, insulated and wired with 220 electricity. It has 6 overhead doors and a covered lean to for trucks to drive through.    

 The Metal Storage Building structure is 1,200 square feet, steel frame, metal panel roof and walls. Structure has electricity but no heat.

The Commodity/Storage Barn is a 2,880 square foot barn with an attached 875 square foot storage building. The structure has steel framing, steel roof cover and with steel panel exterior. A 2,880 square feet and a 240 square feet concrete apron are attached to the barn.  

The Scale House is constructed of metal framing, metal roof and concrete slab flooring. The scale is a 100,000 pound truck scale.
